September 2012

A Praise Report

Anthony Burrows
The 2011-2012 school year is history, and the results from the B.J.C. and B.G.C.S.E external exams are in. We at Bahamas Academy are proud of the performance of our students. It should be noted that because the majority of our seniors were successful in passing three to five subjects with an A-C grade when they were in the 11th grade, they only took between three and four subjects in this year's sitting. However they are leaving high school with a total of at least eight subjects.

In the B.J.C. category, our school's overall performance shows that the percentage of AC passes was 60.26%. Our top achievers in this category are as follows: Raven Hanna - 5A's, 2B's; Aaron Davis - 4A's, 1B, 1C; and Hasheen Lockhart - 1A, 5B's, 1C.

Our B.G.C.S.E students are to be commended for a 56.51% A-C pass rate. We congratulate our top achievers for this year all of whom came from grade eleven: Brendan Toote - 2A's, 3B's, 4C's; Jo'Paul Scavella 1A, 4B's, 4C's; and Lyndee Bowe - 3A's, 2B's, and 3C's. In total, there were 18 eleventh graders who sat four or more B.G.C.S.E. subjects and passed them with grades of A-C.

We give Almighty God thanks and praise for what He has done for us. We thank all of the teachers who worked so hard both during and outside of school hours to assist all of our students in their quest for success. To our parents we say congratulations. The many hours spent waiting in the schoolyard and dropping off and picking up were not in vain.

As a Seventh-day Adventist school, we are grateful that the subject with the best performance was Religious Knowledge (B.G.C.S.E.) with an overall A-C pass rate of 96%. To our returning students, I challenge you to strive for excellence. From the moment the bell rings on September 3, begin to study hard, work hard, pray at all times, and let the banner of Bahamas Academy continue to be raised high for all to see.
